The Art of Age

Aging is an art process in all of us, care and planning will allow for graceful aging. The only thing you really own is your heart, mind, body, and soul. Take care of those things and you will live long and prosperous. In this new age of technology and information, the process of aging is much shorter. People want the latest and the greatest, now, and are quick to forget and dispose.

The photo above is a 75 year old truck. Most people would consider this junk, but to the artist it is a fresh canvas open to many possibilities. It could look good in a garden, slowly returning to earth as life blooms around it. A purest could meticulously restore it to it's former glory over time as he too gracefully ages.

This truck could also make an

outstanding corporate image.

Before you decide to throw away your old junk, slow down, take a second look and give it that old artist stare, or better yet get some real artist advice. Your so called junk may be a better investment than the newest high speed phone, or latest technological advancement that guarantee's profitability. You may be just being duped by the Art of Communication, or the high speed of Disposable Living.

Open Air Festval

Shelburne, Ontario,  Canada

Today was just a beautiful day for the annual "Open Air Festival" in Shelburne, Ontario. Lucky for everyone there it was the day before father's day and finding a gift for dad was real easy. The downtown streets where lined with cars, motorcycles, venders, and of course food.

All the local venders gathered onto the downtown streets in the beautiful sunshine and shared their handcrafted wares and favorite recipes. For the gardener and outdoors type, was a beautiful display of hand crafted metal works ideal for the garden. Whimsical crafts and furniture where also available for the perfect country setting.

This "Big Ass" eco-friendly bike was on display truly designed to prevent that from happening. This is the ultimate in custom green travel. The big attraction for me was the cars, custom vehicles, and motorcycles owned by the locals in the area. Beautiful custom and some originally restored vehicles lined the entire main streets of the downtown core. Below are photo's of a few of my favorites. The show attracted many people from the surrounding area and every year it gets bigger, I'm thinking next year I wont just attend but be a part of it...Happy Father Day and enjoy your day.

It's Gotta Start Somewhere

One cold winter Sunday afternoon without saying a word, I sat down at the dinning room table with stack of paper and a handful of pencil crayons I found in the junk drawer.  While all the kids milled around the house I quietly sat and drew pictures, (cars of course). One by one they all gathered and joined in on the activity. It was a fascinating day. My youngest son Nick called out to Mitch, "Hey Mitch dad just drew a Camaro without looking at a picture." This really had Mitchell's attention, I asked "What's your favorite car?" and with his reply I proceeded to draw it. The rest of that afternoon and for days after the house was a frenzy of drawing.

Art by Mitchell Thibeault

A few days later Mitch said something that made me very happy. "Dad I'm going to learn all the things you know so I can help you."  Wow, I was touched and will never forget those words. He's  sixteen years old now and three short years later he's up to speed in art and will be a excellent mechanic by the time he's twenty years old.

Mitchell purchased his first car, a 1982 Mazda RX7 rolling chassis. We picked it up in London, Ontario and dragged it home. Like most young guys these days he's into drifting. With lots of spare Ford 5.0 parts around we've decided to convert this old rotary into 5.0 ltr. Ford. I could see the excitement in his eyes and could hear his mind churning with ideas, all along thinking, Another project I really didn't have time for. But to my surprise and to this date Mitch has done all the work himself. My roll has been just to advise him and give him direction on the process....a proud dad.

to be continued.

All my life I've been a mechanic and an artist, not sure which came first but they've both been a big part of me from a very young age. Bogie-Motorsports is a division of Bogie Inc. and I've been developing it over the past five years. It's direction has been open and at times a bit cloudy, but is now beginning to take shape. My goal is to design, develop and share custom hand made automotive cars, motorcycles, furnishings, and art. Everything in life is by design!
